AIIMS Director Vs The Union Minister of Health

  • Immidieatly after the passing of the bill, tabled in the Loksabha and Rajya sabha, and the moment the bill gets signed by our Honurable President,The Health minister faxes the Director his dismissal letter as The Head of AIIMS,since now he is armed with the powers. The supreme court hearing the case filed by Director,AIIMS today asked ,why treat a person from such a high position with the kind of hurry, that was shown. What little sympathy our Union Health Minister had, He had lost it by this unseeming haste in dismissing the Director of AIIMS.While the debate was going on in the Parliment, when the bill was introduced. One of the learned parlimentarians quoted the earlier Supreme Court verdict where any act passed by the Parliment ,giving it retrospective effect, will not stand the scrutiny of the courts.Inspite of the warnings,The Union Health Minister has lost his sense of purpose. And is now at the recieiving end .My best Wishes to The Director AIIMS ,who has stood his ground in the fight against the Political interference in the highest educational institution for the serving of Humanity.Already readers would be aware the Medical students from Tamilnadu and House surgeons are on a strike against making compulsory the rural service thats been thrust upon them.Using the advantage of having the numbers to get the bills passed. As the wise saying goes One can only take the horses to water but not make them drink.Without improving upon the copnditions that prevail in the rural medicare, where even basic drugs are not available,One really doesnt understand what is being set to be achieved by asking Doctors to go for 1 year compulsory rural service.Unless the conditions are improved which are at present prevalent in the rural medical service its not going to succeed.
